Assignments help you answer the most important question for small IT teams:

What it is

You can:

• assign assets to people,
• track assignment history (who had what, and for how long),
• review session history and audit trails on assets and people.

In the app, assets have an optional assignedToPerson, and inventory sessions show assignees per session item when available.

Lifecycle note:

• Status transition to retired or in_stock auto-unassigns the asset and records assignment history.

Why it matters

• Reduces time spent chasing devices during offboarding.
• Makes audits easier by showing recent changes and accountability.
• Prevents “spreadsheet drift” when multiple people update data.
